Ben Barker lead the pack in race two at RockinghamDespite a downpour at lunchtime Ben Barker confounded his rivals to take a second double win of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.  The Parr Motorsport driver got a good start off the line in atrocious conditions to lead and then control the race. The safety cat was deployed at the end of the first lap to remove the stranded cars of team-mates Daniel Lloyd and Andy Meyrick who had a coming together in the spray on the lead down to the hairpin at turn 2. Ben got a good restart and soon got the gap to second placed-driver Rory Butcher up to 2.8 seconds.

The excitement for the race came further back when Gelzinis went wide and lost his splitter allowing Sutton and Tordoff past. Tordoff staged a late resurgence to pass Sutton and take not only fourth but fastest lap honours away from Ben. Ben meanwhile controlled the gap to Butcher and crossed the line to take his second win of the weekend and make it four out of four.

“Absolutely fantastic,” said Ben. “Another double win is totally unexpected but we’ve just been fast since Snetterton. I feel good and it’s finally clicking. We’ve got four more races to go in the championship and we’ll try and hunt down Meadows but treat it race by race. We’ll keep pushing from here though”

“I’m over the moon,” enthused Paul Robe. “Absolutely brilliant. The quality was there in some tough conditions to drive in but the car was magnificent for Ben and he put in a performance that was second to none. He came away with a fantastic result for the team, so congratulations to all the boys. It was horrible conditions but that’s motor racing and another fantastic weekend.”
