Hudspeth in qualifyingPeter Kyle-Henney missed taking a double ProAm2 pole position by just 0.61 of a second and so starts third for the second race at Oulton Park. The Hampshire-based driver’s fastest time however was fast enough to seal pole position for round five.It was a very impressive performance for him on his return to the scene of his epic 2015 accident where his car rolled several times after contact from a rival.

Sean Hudspeth meanwhile was equally impressive on his debut at the Cheshire circuit. He set times quick enough for third place on the grid for both races. A feat made all the more impressive considering he had never even turned a wheel at the circuit before free practice on Friday.

Sean Hudspeth (ProAm1) Grid 3rd, Race 3rd

“Coming into this weekend we didn’t have any expectations because we haven’t tested here at all. I haven’t driven a car in ages so to qualify third in class, I think we can be happy with that. I still need to learn a lot and I’m still improving at this circuit because it is very, very challenging. We can definitely work from third, we’ll look at the data and see what e can do. We have to bare in mind that I set my fastest time on flat spotted tyres after they’d been through their peak so watch out!”

Peter Kyle-Henney (ProAm2) Grid Pole, Race 2nd

“One the first set of tyres we tried a few new tricks, slightly different gear change points which helped. We set a good time on the first set of tyres. For the second set it was simply getting a clear lap, it was so hard trying to find space. The only real chance I had I made the best of it and we got pole.”

“I’m very happy with that, qualifying was great. Sean hadn’t been here before and if you’d said to me we’d be third with the McKay’s taking us by a little bit because they’ve test here many times and Sean hasn’t. We are right on the back of the Pros, which is where we wanted to be. He did flay spot a tyre but he put it to rights with a better time.

Peter was holding first place with the first set of tyres but the circuit changed a little and he got caught in traffic but he did a good job. He found one lap and it was enough to pop it on pole for race one. He did a good job.”
