Max CoatesMax Coates will take over the guest driver seat for Donington Park rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, which will again be run by Parr Motorsport. Former Carrera Cup racer Ben Barker scored a double win in the opening rounds at Brands Hatch driving the car but has now commenced his 2014 Supercup programme.

Rounds three and four will take place on the Derbyshire track where North Yorkshire based youngster Coates has previously enjoyed success. In 2012 he won all three Ginetta Supercup races in the G50 class so it has special memories and he is keen to taste success again.  “I can’t wait to get back out again, the new Porsche’s are stunning cars and from talking to some of the current drivers they’re as good to drive as they look,” said an ecstatic Coates.

Coates is hopeful that he can have another successful weekend at the Derbyshire circuit.  “I’ve never driven a Porsche so the weekend will be a steep learning curve but I’m ready for the challenge.  I know Donington Park well so I just need to get to grips with the car, hopefully I’ll be in a position to fight at the front.”

“We’re really happy to have Max in the car,” added Paul Robe. ‘He’s a quick driver moving up the UK motorsport ranks and clearly has the Carrera Cup in his sights. For him to be able tog et experience in the guest car will not only expose him and his sponsors to the championship but also help inject some fresh blood which is the whole reason for running the guest car.”

Testing will take place on Thursday with Qualifying and Race One on Saturday. Race Two of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will be shown live on ITV4 on Sunday at 1:35.
