Peter Kyle-Henney in carPeter Kyle-Henney will graduate up to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year following the introduction of the brand new 991-model type. Parr Motorsport will run the Hampshire based driver who only started racing last year. He competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge taking a win at Brands Hatch in the process. Prior to that Peter had years of track day experience in his 997 Cup car.

“I have significantly upped the ante by joining the Carrera Cup.” Said Peter. “This is a serious championship which has produced some exceptional drivers over the years. With such limited race experience I have to be realistic as to which end of the grid I will be at.”

Former Carrera Cup GB winner and current Supercup driver Ben Barker will be tutoring Peter, imparting the experience he gained from racing the 991 last year. Peter will also gain from Parr’s engineering involvement in Ben’s 2013 European campaign.

“It's fantastic and is a big step up from my 2011 car,” said Peter on his first taste of the car at the Silverstone Media Day. “The front-end grip is astonishing and not before time the new car gets the refined gearbox and paddle shift it deserves. It is clear that the car’s setup is more critical than before but it’s fast and in the right hands should set new benchmarks.”

“The real draw this year is the opportunity to race at Le Mans in the Porsche support race to the 24 hours. To be racing on the same day Porsche returns to Le Sarthe, in what I consider to be the greatest race of all, is a huge privilege and the chance of a lifetime.”

Peter Kyle-Henney on tracj at the Media Day“It’s great that Peter has decided to step up to the Carrera Cup.” Said Paul Robe, Parr Motorsport team principal. “We’re please to work with him and looking forward to a good year. He has a good chance of doing well in the ProAm2. He can compete in the category so we will be going for class wins. It will be exciting.”
