2007 British porsche carrera cup round 7
July 28th - 29th
Tim Harvey set a scorching pace to take pole position during qualifying for round 13 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Snetterton today (Saturday 28 July). In ideal early morning conditions, Harvey took pole with a lap in 1m07.841s as three-tenths of a second covered the top five cars.
Harvey (Red Line Racing) did two laps good enough for pole as the Carrera Cup cars set their fastest ever qualifying times at Snetterton. In all, the top nine cars lapped beneath the year-old lap record, and Harvey was nearly half a second inside the 2006 pole time set by Danny Watts.
"I've been very confident coming here and I was very fired up for qualifying," said Harvey. "But there are five or six guys who can win this weekend; this is the toughest year I've experienced in the Carrera Cup," he added. Leading the chase of Harvey and also breaking the 1m08s barrier was Steven Kane (Motorbase Performance), who was just a tenth of a second slower than Harvey. "I probably didn't make the best of the track early on, but it's not that far away," said the championship leader.
