2007 British porsche carrera cup round 9
September 1st - 2nd
Sam Hancock took pole position for round 17 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill today (Saturday 1 September). Hancock claimed his first Carrera Cup pole position as the Motorbase Performance team set the pace in a dramatic session, which ended with the car of championship leader Steven Kane in the tyre barrier.
The battle for pole raged for much of the half-hour qualifying session, with Jon Barnes (Team Parker Racing) and Tim Harvey (Red Line Racing) setting the pace as drivers used their first set of tyres. Then James Sutton (Red Line Racing) took over at the head of the times, but in the last 10 minutes it was Kane (Motorbase Performance) and finally Hancock at the head of the times.
"The team has given all of us great cars this weekend and I'm thrilled to be on pole," said Hancock. "I do love this track in these cars. Now I've just got to convert pole at the start of the race," he said.
