Watts takes Carrera Cup pole at Croft

Danny Watts set the pace in qualifying for round nine of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft today (Saturday, 15 July), but only a third of a second covered the top five drivers, opening up the prospect of two excellent races at the North Yorkshire track.

Watts (Team Irwin with Red Line) ran just five laps on his first set of tyres to take pole position and then sat out the balance of the session as his rivals tried to match his time. "We've got two great sets of tyres for the races, so the plan worked," said Watts. "It's all down to me getting the car off the line now. All in all, it was a perfect session."
