Danny Watts took pole position in a thrilling qualifying session for round 11 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park today (Saturday, 29 July). A mighty performance from Michael Caine took him to the top of the times mid-session, but Watts was able to go back out late in the session and reclaim pole by only 0.019s.

Watts (Team IRWIN with Red Line) took pole early on, and then planned to stay in the pits and see if anyone could beat his time. "I knew that lap wasn't particularly good and that there was more to come," said Watts. "I sat there waiting and then went out and did the time. It's more satisfying to get pole under pressure."
