Pepe Massot during Snetterton QualifyingPepe Massot set an impressive pace in today’s qualifying session to net third fastest time for the second race and a fourth place in race one. “I’m really happy with the team and with myself in this qualifying session.” said a happy Pepe. The track was quicker in the second half of the thirty-minute session as it rubbered in grippier for th Michelin tyres.

“We’ve worked hard and it’s really paid off. Potentially we should be P3 or P2 because on my quickest lap I got held up and had to back off. I start ninth for the first race and third for the second race so I’ll try and make some positions up at the start, try and follow the leaders in the first race and fight for a podium in the second.”

Peter Kyle-Henney in the sister Parr Motorsport entry also feared well in the ProAm2 category. The Hampshire-based driver made the most of his tyres during the session, which got warmer as it progressed with the sun beaming down on the Norfolk track. His fastest times put him second for race one and on ProAm2 pole for the second race of the day.

“It was good,” said Peter. “The first set of tyres were fine but I kept locking up the brakes so we made a change for the second run and it was much better. We set the quickest times and it made a big difference to the speed around here. It’s not bad being on pole for race two so we should have a battle tomorrow.”

“I’m very pleased,” summed up a content team boss Paul Robe. “Pepe drove really well and he worked the second set of tyres brilliantly. P4 was a good result but we know we could have gone a little faster, that’s one of those things. His second fastest lap was mega and it puts us third on the grid for race two and exactly where we wanted to be so I’m very pleased.”

“Peter is a little bit disappointed because he still sees that he should be faster but he is much closer to Steven Liquorish and really he’s got everything to race for.”
