Pepe Massot promoted to ProBased on Pepe Massot’s impressive pace in his opening weekend in the championship at Croft, and his qualifying performance at Snetterton today, championship organisers Porsche have promoted him into the Pro category. The decision was reached after a Driver’s Panel meeting was held with three randomly chosen drivers to decide if he should be promoted.

The Spanish youngster only joined the championship at the last round having previously competed in the Ginetta Supercup. He has long held ambitions of racing Porsches and the decision was made to switch after mechanical issues with the car hampered his championship challenge.

The Parr Motorsport run driver went well on his championship debut at the North Yorkshire circuit, taking two wins in the ProAm1 category and a third place overall in the second race of the weekend. For this weekend’s races at Snetterton Pepe set the fourth quickest time for race one, although he will start in ninth after received a grid penalty from Croft, and third for race two.

The change takes place with immediate effect and Pepe will race in both tomorrow’s races in the top category. Race one starts at 09:05 with race two taking place at 15:20.
