Parr Motorsport endured a disappointing start to the season when unpredictable weather conditions worked against the team’s carefully thought out strategy. Having shown strong pace in Friday’s Free Practice sessions with Dino finishing second overall and Mark Cole and Peter Kyle-Henney topping ProAm1 and ProAm2 respectively. The cars came in and changed onto wet tyres in the early stages of the session but the window of performance is very small and with nearly thirty cars circulating the 1.2 mile track finding space was critical to setting a fast time. Unfortunately lady luck was not feeling charitable and the cars were restricted to the mid pack.

Peter Kyle-Henney – starting 19th

“We had grate expectations for the day, we didn’t think there was going to be any rain having looked at the radar but it caught us out as a team. The cars were set too stiff for the conditions and all four cars slid down the grid. This is good experience for us though and we’ll look forward to the race and starting third in class.”

Mark Cole – Starting 15th

“Qualifying was a bit disappointing but the race is ahead, it’s not deal for round one starting in a lowly grid position. It’s not going to be especially easy to pass people but naturally I’ll be trying because there are a few people who ordinarily wouldn’t be in front so we’ll try and keep our nose clean in the opening laps and then we can get down to it.”

Paul Rees – starting 16th

“We’ve had a look at the data and I was actually six tenths up on Dino on the straight before having to lift for a back marker. With these tyres you have a small window and our setup was not optimal, we very much went for a dry setup and the weather was not kind to us. Now we need to make the best of a bad situation and push on.”

Paul Robe – Team Principal

“It was a qualifying session to forget. They were very changeable conditions and unfortunately we read the weather wrong and so it was disappointing. We’ll consolidate though and work to show our pace in the race and see what we can do.”
