Brembo

2011 was a major milestone for Brembo, as the company celebrated 50 years of business studded with extraordinary technological, sporting and commercial successes. On January 11 1961, Emilio Bombassei and Italo Breda founded Officine Meccaniche di Sombreno, the original progenitor of today's Brembo. Already with them was the current group president Alberto Bombassei, who was just twenty years old at the time. This was the beginning of a half century long adventure that has led Brembo to become the undisputed leader in the braking system market. Brembo started to produce brake discs for cars in 1964 and brake systems for motorcycles in 1972, while in 1975 the company ventured into Formula 1, supplying its own braking systems for Ferrari GP cars. During this half century, through technological innovation and continuous research into materials and manufacturing processes, Brembo has become one of the world's most prestigious brands.

In 1995, Brembo was listed on the Milan stock exchange and inaugurated a strategy for growth and internationalisation, which would soon lead the company to exceed a billion Euros in turnover, operating with 36 plants in 15 different countries and a workforce of more than 6000 employees. Today, Brembo is a constantly growing industrial concern celebrating its first 50 years of quality and innovation, and a group that is more than ready to tackle the new challenges of the market.

Brembo Group brands include AP Racing Clutches, Marchesini allow wheels, Sabelt safety equipment, ByBre braking systems, and its aftermarket brands AP and Breco.

JRZ Suspension

JRZ Suspension Engineering was founded in 1994 by J. Zuijdijk to bring a revolutionary damping design to the world of motor racing and high performance sports cars. The design would eliminate the design flaws of the old school of hydraulic damper design and incorporate newly acquired insights into the complexity of vehicle dynamics and the role of the damper.

Based upon a long term experience gathered working with diverse damper designs ranging from Formula One, through prototype sports cars to industrial applications like trucks, buses and wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles. JRZ's experience grew through collaborations in the US and Europe in NASCAR and the DTM with Alfa Romeo. The result was that the JRZ damping system transformed the handling of race cars providing better traction, lateral grip, faster lap times and reducing tire wear.

In 2003, JRZ Suspension Engineering merged with Vovu Metaalbewerking BV, the merger combined design, machining and manufacturing of the JRZ product under one roof, offering the opportunity to manufacture the product from raw material to finished product and enabled JRZ Suspension Engineering access to an almost unlimited production capacity.

Michelin

In 1889 two brothers, André and Edouard Michelin, embarked on a great human and industrial odyssey to develop modern transport solutions through ceaseless innovation. In 1892 the company organised a cycle race from Paris to its home in Clermont-Ferrard. The brothers scattered nails on the road to prove that, with a detachable tyre, having a flat is no longer a big deal. In 1895 the Michelin brothers built and drive The Éclair in the Paris-Bordeaux-Paris race, the first automobile to run on pneumatic tyres.

1898 sees the birth of the famous Bibendum or Michelin Man when Edouard Michelin comments of the columns of tyres at a trade show. By the turn of the century Michelin had expanded to London, Turin and the US with new plants and the first publication of the Michelin guide is produced. This is followed ten year later with the first Michelin road map. At the outbreak of war the company turn to the production of aircraft and a runway in Clermont-Ferrard. After the war the company continues to expand globally and even takes over the running of the Citroen car company in 1935. Citroen launches the 2CV and remain part of the Michelin group until 1974 when it is sold to Peugeot.

Quaife

Quaife Engineering has been in the forefront of high performance transmission technology since 1965, when Rodney Quaife, produced the first five speed gear cluster for a Triumph motorcycle. This gear kit, which went on to compete with considerable success at the famous Daytona events, embodied a philosophy that still's central to every Quaife product – that of affordable excellence.

Since then Quaife Engineering has grown to become a very successful business, producing thousands of transmission products both for the UK market but also for overseas. Nonetheless whether we are producing a small volume motorsport transmission, a prototype electric vehicle power train, or an OEM differential order, our goals are always the same, to deliver outstanding quality and performance.

Quaife Engineering boasts a highly advanced 3D CAD drawing office, which uses the very latest FEA software to ensure designs are optimised before any metal is cut. Combined with large-scale, long-term investment in robotic CNC machining centres, state of the art coordinate measuring equipment and a highly skilled and dedicated workforce, Quaife consistently delivers transmission solutions across a diverse variety of sectors.

Quaife has an ongoing involvement in motorsport at a variety of levels, both on two wheels and four, which means as a company we understand the time pressures and competitive edge that's required to succeed, on and off the track. Our designers, machinists and assembly technicians thrive on the tight deadlines, engineering challenges and quality requirements that put Quaife's numerous motorsport clients in a winning position – including Caterham, Ginetta and Radical.

This same 'can do' attitude exists within Quaife's volume OEM ATB differential program. Our 23,000 square feet plant in Gillingham Quaife supplies some of the world's leading car manufacturers, most recently the Ford Motor Company for the acclaimed 300bhp Mk2 Focus RS.
